85 Kids, 10 Sets of Clubs, and a Week They Won’t Forget

More than 85 juniors experience the game during Korn Ferry Tour Bahamas clinics supported by Drive Fore the Future.

When the Korn Ferry Tour arrived in the Bahamas earlier this season, the focus wasn’t only on birdies and leaderboards. On two islands: Abaco and Nassau, the week also included something that may have a much longer impact: introducing young players to the game of golf.

Two junior clinics were held during tournament week, giving local kids a chance to spend time on the course with professional golfers while learning the game's fundamentals.

One of those clinics took place at The Ocean Club on Paradise Island, where juniors began the day on the range working with Korn Ferry Tour players and instructors. Among the participating professionals were PGA Tour members Hayden Buckley and Sam Anderson, who spent time helping the kids with their swings and answering questions about life as a professional golfer.

After the range session, the juniors had an experience they won’t soon forget - a four-hole pro-am. Each professional teamed up with one junior boy and one junior girl, creating a fun and relaxed environment where the kids could see the game up close while playing alongside the pros.

The clinics were hosted by BD Global and helped support the Fourteen Clubs Golf Academy, run by Bahamian coach Denise Potier.

Potier recently launched “She Is Golf 1000,” an initiative with the goal of introducing 1,000 young women to the game of golf. Her commitment to growing the sport is deeply personal. Potier’s twin daughters now compete internationally, and their journey through the game helped inspire her mission to create more opportunities for young girls in the Bahamas.

In total, more than 85 juniors participated in the two clinics, gaining their first hands-on experience with the game. Through the support of Drive Fore the Future, 10 sets of clubs were donated to help ensure that the excitement from the clinics can continue long after tournament week ended.

For some of the juniors, the experience didn’t stop at the clinic. Several were also able to attend the tournament and be part of the trophy ceremony, giving them a chance to see the professional game up close and celebrate alongside the players.

Moments like these are exactly what Drive Fore the Future hopes to create - opening doors for young golfers and helping programs like Fourteen Clubs Golf Academy build the next generation of players in the Bahamas.
