At Ft. Zumwalt North High School in Missouri, the girls golf team is proving that heart, hustle, and unity can go a long way—on and off the course. Made up of 14 student-athletes, the team is a mix of lifelong golfers and newcomers who’ve found common ground in their commitment to one another and the game. While golf might not get the same spotlight as football, basketball, or volleyball, the accomplishments of this team are impossible to overlook.
This past season was nothing short of historic. With two sophomores qualifying for the state tournament and the team finishing with an impressive 10–1 record, it was the most successful season in school history. The excitement was especially meaningful for the younger players—some of whom had just picked up a club for the first time. It was the kind of season that sticks with a student for life.
But even as the wins stacked up, the team was still facing a challenge familiar to many under-resourced programs: uniforms that had long outlived their prime. Some players were wearing the original white polos from 2009, when the girls golf program was first established. Stained, outdated, and mismatched, they didn’t reflect the pride these girls have in their team or school.
Sheri Lawing, a parent of a freshman on the team, reached out to Drive Fore the Future on behalf of the program. Her message was clear: this team is something special. The girls lift each other up, they work hard in the classroom and on the course, and they deserve to look and feel like the team they are.
At Drive Fore the Future, our mission isn’t just about addressing financial barriers—it’s about making golf more accessible, inclusive, and empowering, especially for young women. We believe that what players wear, how they feel, and the support they receive can shape their experience and keep them coming back to the game.
That’s why we were proud to provide each player on the Ft. Zumwalt North girls team with two brand new polos—ensuring every girl, whether on JV or varsity, could step onto the course feeling confident and unified.
This team is building more than a win record. With dedicated coaches, supportive families, and athletes who show up for each other, they’re helping to grow the game in the best way possible.
