The impact of consistent support can be seen not just in moments, but in momentum. At Happy Valley Middle School, that momentum continues to build thanks to an ongoing partnership with Drive Fore The Future.

This marks the second time the foundation has supported the middle school program, while also extending its reach to the broader community through two previous contributions to Happy Valley High School. Together, these efforts reflect a long-term commitment to growing the game and creating opportunities for student-athletes at multiple levels.

This most recent contribution was designed with one goal in mind: making it easier for new players to step into the game with confidence. Drive Fore The Future provided:

For many middle school students, trying golf for the first time can feel intimidating, especially without the proper equipment. By removing those barriers, the program is now better positioned to welcome beginners and create a more inclusive, supportive environment.

A major driving force behind this continued growth is Head Coach Gene Renfro, whose ongoing advocacy for his players has been instrumental in building and sustaining the program. His commitment to creating opportunities and ensuring his students have access to the tools they need has helped bring partnerships like this one to life.

At this stage, access is everything. Middle school is often where interest is sparked and confidence begins to grow. With the right tools in place, students are not only able to learn the fundamentals of the game, but also begin developing the discipline, patience, and resilience that golf naturally teaches.

What makes this partnership especially meaningful is its continuity. Supporting both the middle school and high school programs helps create a pipeline, one where students can be introduced to the game early and continue developing their skills as they move forward. It transforms golf from a one-time opportunity into a sustained experience.

As new players lace up their shoes, pick up a club, and step onto the course for the first time, they’re doing so with the backing of a community that believes in their potential, led by dedicated advocates like Coach Renfro.

And at Happy Valley, that belief is continuing to grow - one swing at a time.
