We’re excited to share that Drive Fore The Future has partnered with Hearne High School in Hearne, Texas, to help launch a brand-new golf program. To support their efforts, DFTF provided 16 full sets of golf clubs, a new polo for each player, and 32 dozen golf balls. This equipment lays the foundation for a meaningful and inclusive program that will offer students new opportunities to learn, grow, and compete.
When the school first reached out to us, their vision was clear. Coach William Hulse shared, “We believe in providing our students with opportunities to excel both academically and in extracurricular activities. Golf is an incredible sport that teaches discipline, perseverance, and teamwork, and we believe it would be a valuable addition to our school community.”
Located in a community with a high poverty rate and limited resources, Hearne High serves a student population facing significant economic challenges. Approximately 93% of students at the school qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and the city of Hearne itself has a poverty rate of over 35%—well above the state average. The median household income in the area hovers around $30,000, less than half the statewide average in Texas. These statistics illustrate just how critical it is to ensure that students in areas like Hearne have access to the same opportunities as their peers elsewhere.
Despite these challenges, the team at Hearne is deeply committed to giving students the chance to thrive academically, socially, and personally. Coach Hulse emphasized the importance of this support, saying, “With your generous contribution, we will be able to create an inclusive and meaningful experience for our students, many of whom may never have had the chance to play this sport otherwise. Your support will directly benefit our students by giving them a chance to participate in a sport that fosters valuable life skills and could potentially open doors to scholarships and further opportunities.”
By helping bring golf to their campus, we’re not only supplying physical equipment—we’re investing in students’ confidence, character, and future possibilities.
We're honored to support this new program and look forward to seeing it take shape over the coming seasons.
